Puzzles first emerged in the 18th century as education tools, carving maps into wooden pieces. Over time, it became a form of entertainment and problem-solving. Today, puzzles are known for their cognitive and therapeutic benefits, offering both a challenge and a reward. Not only are you able to complete a puzzle but with technology you can take puzzle games on the road with you both digitally and physically.
Solving a puzzle helps me to focus on nothing else but the final creation. To be able to find the calm in the chaos. For physical puzzles, each piece reminds me of life’s process: taking time, being patient and finding where everything fits. Digital puzzles, I am able to find the same joy and bring it with me wherever I go. Personally, puzzles were always a part of my life. My great-grandmother would have a puzzle going on at her house and everyone would participate in it. I can remember her sitting down next to me and my family, helping us put in the final piece. The strategy and persistence of putting a puzzle together is what got me to fall in love with them. It’s also a way to honor the memories with my great-grandmother and I am able to share that love with others. Completing a puzzle is a quiet victory, one that encourages mindfulness and creativity. But sometimes it feels like you are finally at the top of a mountain and are able to see the whole world.
